Justin, I have to agree with you. I think Piper nailed it. He had some great insights without saying who he is going to vote for or trying to tell Christians who they should vote for.
I was truly encouraged by Piper's video and thank you for posting on it. And I continually pray the same thing that Piper does that if we have a bad president it is God's sovereign decree. I also just finished reading an article from Relevant Magazine, I know not the most theologically sound, but it was quite a chuckle to hear from two guys who wrote "Jesus For President" talk about politics and what was even worse was this comment..."of the things I love about Jesus is that He’s never telling people exactly what to do... I think one of the mistakes the Religious Right made was telling people exactly what to do.” Anyway have a great Election Day!
I respectfully dissagree with the first two posters. I believe that the church (ie. pastors/elders), as shepherds of the body of Christ, should be very influential in helping us know how to vote based upon the biblical truths. I know many churches in our area who never even brought up the election at all and I think thats being a big fat chicken! This is the world we live in and we need guidance in how we are to live in it- and that includes how to vote in such an important election. -sarah
