This is sobering. Joshua Project has a list of the 50 largest unreached people groups.

Let the nations be glad and sing for joy (Psalm 67:4).

Praying for the Gospel to Bear Fruit Globally

Jesus said to pray earnestly for the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers (Matthew 9:38).

So last night, my church gathered to pray for global missions. In preparation for the prayer time, I did some research on the most unreached people groups, the most persecuted countries, and the most Bible-less peoples. I put that information along with some suggested ways to pray in a one-page prayer guide. You can view and print this prayer guide here.

Why You Should Care About Missions

The glory of God is not honored among the Ansari of India.
The holiness of God is not revered among the Bukat of Indonesia.
The greatness of God is not admired among the Chamar of Nepal.
The power of God is not praised among the Dahur of Pakistan.
The truth of God is not sought among the Ersu of China.
The wisdom of God is not esteemed among the Fulani of France.
The beauty of God is not treasured among the Garwi of Afghanistan.
The goodness of God is not savored among the Hani of Vietnam.
The faithfulness of God is not trusted among the Isan of Malaysia.
The justice of God is not respected among the Juma of Brazil.

The Savior is not valued by most of the world’s population.

Let All the Peoples Praise You!

I preached from Psalm 67 Sunday.

I drew out the 2 passions of the Psalmist:
-The Psalmist longs for the peoples of the earth to know and praise God.
-The Psalmist longs to be personally used in spreading the glory of God to all peoples on the earth.

The connection between verses 1 and 2 is the main ponit of the Psalm. God blesses us in order that the nations might know His saving power.

Life is War and God is Sovereign

This is one of my top 5 Piper sermons of all time. I was reminded of it because it corresponds to The Pleasures of God chapter 8.

Who Will Go?

Amazing. CNN.com's lead article this morning was about one of the last remaining "uncontacted" tribes. An airplane got some pictures of this tribe in the Amazon rainforest. The pictures show the men pointing their bows toward the airplane.

These are men for whom Christ died. Their most basic need is not for their land to be protected. They need a Savior. They need a Savior whose own Father pierced Him with the arrow of His wrath.

Think Deeply: The Great Commission

It is sad that as well known as the Great Commission is, it is often misunderstood.


I think it is often understood to mean that we are to make as many disciples as possible. However, The Commission is to make disciples of all nations. We are to make people from every nation disciples, not just make as many people disciples as possible.


The reason someone should leave a fruitful ministry in the US, cross a culture, learn a language, and labor for a lifetime to translate the Bible is because the Great Commission tells us to do so.


If you have a copy of Piper's Let the Nations Be Glad, pick it up and read the "ocean liner" illustration at the beginning of chapter 5. It was earth-shattering to me 10 years ago. If you don't have a copy, GET ONE!

Errant Preaching From The Inerrant Book

This past Sunday, July 8, I made a very specific mistake. In the conclusion to my message on Galatians 3:6-9, I made a point about missions. I think that these verses should encourage us to take this gospel to all the nations. I was not planning on using specific numbers in my plea for us to think about missions. However, as I was making that point, some of my previous study came flooding in my mind and I decided to share some of it. I think I said that there were about 300,000 remaining Bibleless languages. Obviously, that is not correct (I don't even think there are close to 300,000 total languages). What I meant to say was that there are about 3,000 languages that still need a Bible. I remember that number from some literature I read a few years ago. After checking online today, I learned that Wycliffe now says that there are about 2,200 Bibleless languages.
Please forgive me for this mistake. I intend to be accurate in everything I say. However, I know that this will not be the last mistake I make. I am in need of grace.
