Just a random thought: Why do people say, "He is smart as a cookie?" Someone has got to help me out on this one because I don't know any smart cookies. If cookies were really smart they would make themselves not taste so good to avoid getting eaten. As I was writing this, I thought of another one I need help on: "She is cute as a button."

Perhaps what the saying means is that the idea of the cookie is smart. Who can deny that the creation of the cookie was not a smart idea? Bu then, if that was the case, the saying would probably be "smart as the cookie". Sorry, I totally pulled that out of the air.
I've heard Tollhouse has a higher IQ than Oreo. That's probably the reason.
