You Best Life Now or Later?

I am listening to a sermon by John MacArthur in which he is tearing Your Best Life Now apart. He began the sermon with several quotes from Osteen regarding how if you put his principles into practice you can have your "best life now."

MacArthur said, "That is absolutely true, if you are not a Christian."

The only people enjoying their best life now will be those who expereience the worst life imaginable later.

Wow! MacArthur does have a way with words. While I have no desire to read anything Osteen puts out, I do try to keep up with some of it because so many people are reading this stuff. I have had to answer the "What do you think about Joel?" question many times. Thanks for sharing the sermon link Justin!

I will plan on listening to it as well. I wonder if there is anyone who is lovingly approaching Joel about his weak theology and methodology.

The best description I have ever heard about Joel is "he is a great motivational speaker - but a lousy preacher of the gospel!"

The most disturbing thing I have ever heard about his teaching is: "Joel is leading a lot of people to hell with a positive attitude."

Wow. I love his boldness. In our equipping classes we are watching a DVD series and "Johnny Mac" is one of the speakers. I loved one of the things he said about prayer. He said that God is not a "celestial vending machine". :)

We have a LOT of people in our family that really like Osteen. Infact, my nephews refer to him as "Uncle Joel". So its a touchy subject to say the least.

Same here. My brother in law loves him for his encouragement. The White Horse Inn guys say Joel's preaching, is "law-lite." It's kinder, gentler law with no Hell. Joel says do this and God is going to bless you. If you don't do this, no problem, but you might have a bad hair day.

Jason, I have attempted to contact Osteen a couple of times, to no avail.
