Let my name perish

Several of Whitefield's followers begged him to begin his own denomination in order to solidify his perpetual memory. Whitefield replied, "Let the name of Whitefield perish, but Christ be glorified!"

The Calvinistic Methodist Church is a small group, largely in Scotland, that followed Whitefield over Wesley. But Whitefield didn't form it.
The church building in which he's buried, in MA, is interesting. It was built for him when he was in the States. Very big for those days. Now about 15 old women are all that is left. The PC (USA), of all groups, maintains it for its historical significance.
