I've often wondered what the Spirit was doing while the Son was suffering and the Father was hiding His face.
Could it be that the Spirit was empowering the Son to suffer?
That is what Ferguson is saying by "with the aid of the Spirit."
Then why do you wonder still?
My first comment was more referring to before I read and pondered this quote.
I think Ferguson is right. However, he is not authoritative.
I wonder if there is any Biblical pointer to this question.
